This entry contains my 3-year professional development and action plan created for SDAD 5900: Capstone Seminar in Winter Quarter 2022. This plan outlines the actions that will guide me for continued professional development as a student affairs administrator in alignment with the NASPA/ACPA professional competencies.
This entry demonstrates plans to strengthen my current advising practice including continued DEI work, opportunities to develop my leadership and supervisory skills, as well as continuing to build relationships and lean on the support of my network and mentors for support to achieve career and professional aspirations.
Learning outcomes addressed
This plan addresses continued training and engagement to understand emerging trends and issues students face (LO 2: Understanding students and student issues) with a focus on minoritized students (LO 4: Understanding and fostering diversity, justice and a sustainable world formed by a global perspective and Jesuit Catholic tradition). This entry also speaks to my goals of utilizing tools and resources to increase comfort with managing and presenting data (LO 7: Utilizing assessment, evaluation, technology, and research to improve practice) as well as strengthen leadership skills and prepare for opportunities to supervise and lead others (LO 6: Developing and demonstrating skills in leadership and collaboration). Overall, this plan addresses specific items I intend to devote time and energy to so I can improve in my current role, and ultimately prepare me for future professional opportunities (LO 10: Establishing and enhancing professional identity).
